Pray to Your Goddess of Mercy - Lines

Maybe the alternate title should be:
"Pray FOR Your Goddess of Mercy"

Because those shoes must be killing her legs.

So sue me, I lied apparently.  I liked the Summer Games 2017 'Winged Victory' skin for Mercy so much that, yeah, I got inspired enough to take a crack at 'the usual' sort of fanart.

So, the costume, yeah.  Just lovely.  Even w/out taking into consideration the expected tidbit of it, the Nike-esque goddess look for Overwatch's healer Mercy is just a delightful design all-around.  Probably tops the witch one. ^^

Anyway, yeah, I have to point out the footwear.  I have to admit...despite its (major) positive, they do kind of look 'off' to me when you think of it.  Yeah, I know, Mercy can 'fly' in ways, but to have her footwear be literal (high) heels underneath her...heels with the front half of her feet exposed and with nothing underneath...that HAS to be painful to run around and fight in, seriously.  All that pressure in the back and forcing her on her toes at such an angle...ouch.

I'd almost actually think it'd look better if the sandals were 'full' length (yes, covering the sole...don't hit me!) if they have to keep her on her heels.  Or just barefoot with the 'ankle wings'...but I have a feeling Blizzard couldn't do that.  While I'm sure one of them would pull the 'need recognizable silhouette' e-sport excuse (BS, look at summer Widowmaker now), I'm actually taking a wild guess that they can't (or won't) change Mercy's model's base skeleton to have her standing flat on her feet.  All her other skins have heeled footwear, so just making her barefoot would have the model 'running on tip toes'...*shrugs*

And the other oddity for me?  Why there's toe-straps going atop the top of her foot, between her toes and connecting to NOTHING on the bottom.  It almost looks like a mistake happened when making the skin...yet the exposed soles underneath look fully rendered/detailed as if they were planned to be 'bare' anyway.

Why am I writing a book about a character skin I really like that just has a few small 'flaws' in my opinion?

Annnnnnyway...

I sketched and inked up something with Winged Victory Mercy.  Originally was going to try something flighty-dynamic...but then I had the silly idea of pointing out the 'result' of her in that footwear.

So instead, Mercy's just splayed out on a beach chair, just trying to rest her aching legs/feet.  Based on her pained/weary expression and body language, I think she's found the shoes to be a bit painful to fight in.  Gingerly caressing her legs with her hands, she leans over to look at her exposed digits and very blatantly FLEXES her toes just to ease them out after the 'pressure' that's surely been on them.  Stretching them and sighing to herself. ^^

Originally I was going to remove this ink-lines version after the color was posted but, eh, enough people commented/liked it so it gets to stay.
